I had to cross campus today on some errands, and the the outing turned into a wonderful winter walk. Campus was almost visibly settling down into its late-year hibernation, now that almost all the students are gone for winter break (and all the profs are off in their “grading jails”). The cold quiet was magnificent, broken only by the honking of hundreds of geese on the lakes. It was a good time to be outside.
You’re makin’ me homesick, man!
Don’t worry; it’ll all still be here when you get back. And it’s not like Helsinki sucks. The sauna per capita ratio here is still at 0!
Winter days like that are truly beautiful. I swear I would be much MUCH happier about winter if the sun came out more.
