Today was probably the hottest day of the year – hot enough that Minnesota Public Radio used the word "barbaric" in the morning forecast. To reward myself for cowering almost inside all day, this evening I staged a "float off" – comparing a traditional root beer float with the variant made with a dark beer. I used Frostop root beer in the latter, Sierra Nevada Stout in the former – and store brand vanilla frozen yogurt in both, because I need to watch my boyish figure. Plus I guess yogurt is fill of friendly germs or something.
I enjoyed both floats a great deal, but my conclusion was straightforward and easily determined: the traditional root beer float was superior. The downside? Now I have to finish that bottle of stout.
