After sitting around the house all morning, I convinced the girls to go for a walk after lunch. Julia, being averse to nature, was reluctant to go, but Vivi volunteered to lead the way, so off we went. After a few sulky minutes, Julia came out of her shell and we walked along like a happy little trio, talking about a wide variety of topics:
- Laura & Mary Ingalls’s need to walk everywhere
- The differences between real American Girl dolls and the versions sold at Target
- How many weeks’ allowances Julia would have to save to buy a real American Girl doll (about 110)
- The gifts that Santa Claus will being to the girls in December
- Santa’s “real” first name
- The many names Santa uses (Santa Claus, St. Nicholas/Nick, Kris Kringle, Father Christmas, etc.)
- The first name of Mrs. Claus (Julia: Charlotte; Genevieve: Rose; me: Betty)
Okay, I guess it wasn’t that wide a variety. Still, it was a nice 60 minutes…
Constant stream of thoughts, aren’t they?
