Having done everything she could in two-dimensional art, Vivi has recently moved into three-dimensional works, such as this sculpture assembled from both found and newly-created materials. Note the two Dairy Queen cups, appropriated during a summer visit to DQ (and not to be interpreted as endorsements of either Blizzards or DQ corporate policies), and an empty oatmeal canister. These items usually reside in the artist’s toy kitchen, but she has creatively used them here as platforms for the new materials – paper decorated with markers in a combination of abstract and quasi-representational patterns and then cut into shapes which were then taped to the cups. The entire piece was displayed prominently on our computer table in the form seen here. The artist has since dismantled the work.
