Meerkat Girls

I’m continuously amazed by the girls’ ability to translate the most innocuous subject matter – a TV show, a chapter in a book, a story someone tells them, a transient experience at school – into play. Today, they turned  a four-page Ranger Rick story about meerkats into about an hour of playing meerkat, including a prolonged session of pretending to be meerkat sentries who see an eagle, send up the warning cry, and then jump into their “bolt hole.”
