From bottom to top and outside to inside, here’s what I wore this morning for the bike ride to work:
cycling shoes
running socks under dress socks
lined waterproof windpants
khakis
long underwear over regular underwear
windbreaker
midweight fleece jacket
dress shirt
undershirt
bike helmet
sunglasses
thermal hat
heavy ski gloves
By my count, that’s 15 separate items, or 1.33 items for every degree of air temperature when I rode. I almost wish I could say that I didn’t relish putting on all this stuff, but but by god, I did. I am emphatically glad that winter’s (nearly) here.
As the person who does all the laundry in the house, I’m not so thrilled.
Well, the only items that will be new to the daily laundry stream are the extra socks and longjohns – hardly backbreaking items. Even the laundry folder doesn’t mind that.
Actually I don’t mind the cold right now. Ask me again in February.
I’m not so thrilled about knowing about (nearly) every garment you’re wearing.
(And Shan – be lucky you have a laundry folder!)
If the readers of this blog are really lucky, they might get pictures later.
When you get to your desk, do you strip off the extra clothes or do you do this somewhere else? Where do you put the extra clothes?
I take off the windbreaker/jacket, hat, helmet, sunglasses, gloves, and windpants. Everything else stays on.
